7 Steps of the Divorce Process 

1. Concern a D8 Divorce Petition Form

Before you apply for divorce online case you need to complete a D8 divorce petition form. You can fill this form online or can submit offline also by using the traditional paper version. You may pay some payment £593 court fee to start the proceedings.

2. After the Petition Filed Court Sends a Petition to the Respondent

If the divorce petition is found correct and the required court fee has been paid, then the court moves onto the next step. After that the court sends the petition to the Respondent for action.

3. Acknowledgment of Service

• If the Respondent did not respond acknowledgment of service, then Petitioner arranges to have the documents personally served. 

• If the respondent files an acknowledgment of service back to court, then the next step of divorce will start.

4. Petitioner Files for the Decree Nisi

In this process, you are asking the court for permission to divorce. A judge will review the matters of your case.

5. Decree Nisi Statement

A judge will consider the divorce petition matter and the petition gets listed in the judge’s list for statement of decree nisi. After statement done, then it is confirmed that divorce will be granted.

6. Financial Order Application

After divorce permission granted now you can file an application for a financial consent order. You will get 6 weeks ‘cooling-off’ period to discuss any arrangements for your money and assets. 

7. Apply for the Divorce Decree 

After six week of divorce process, Petitioners can apply for decree.  Once the decree absolute is granted, the divorce process has decided and you are officially divorced.
